Daily Devotional - Tuesday, July 7

Paul prays that the Father will give the Ephesians the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. There was a purpose for his praying that..."so that you may know Him better." I, too, need wisdom and revelation so that I may know Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father better. With all the things going on around us, the only thing that makes sense out of all of it is knowing Him better. The God of the universe loves us and is excited about us knowing Him better. That's what this Christian life is all about...knowing Him better!! My mind immediately thought of one of my favorite songs..."Knowing you" written by Graham Kendrick.
Here are the words I find myself singing, mostly to myself and not out loud, when things just don't make sense.
All I once held dear, built my life upon,
all this world reveres and wars to own;
all I once thought gain I have counted loss,
spent and worthless now compared to this.
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You.
There is no greater thing.
You're my all, You're the best,
You're my joy, my righteousness,
and I love You Lord.
Now my heart's desire is to know you more,
to be found in You and known as Yours,
to possess by faith what I could not earn
all surpassing gift of righteousness.
Oh to know the power of Your risen life,
and to know You in Your sufferings;
to become like You in Your death, my Lord,
so with you to live and never die.
