Daily Devotional - Wednesday, August 5

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someoe to devour" 1 Peter 5:8

A couple things came to my mind when I read this scripture in the "going deeper" section of my devotion today. One being that If Satan is out there acting like a roaring lion, when our focus is on Godly things, he should be very easy to spot; and the other was it would be extremely scary to be face to face with a big, nasty roaring lion that was looking to devour me. This is where the scripture calls us to put on the full armor of God and stand firm against the devil's schemes. Now as I look at this mental picture of me and this lion, now God has dressed me up like a gladiator and ready for battle! I look pretty unstoppable, but the scripture calls us to stand firm, not to attack. This is because the battle was already won 2000 years ago when Jesus died on a cross. He died so that this roaring lion, the devil could not even touch us while we are seated with Him, and are clothed with His truths. With this known the only thing we have to do is stand, remain constantly in Christ, and not back down from the fight, because we know its won in Jesus. We MUST ask God every day to clothe us with His armor on a daily basis, because the struggle is never over here on Earth, not until we are in heaven praising God for all eternity.

"Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" James 4:7

Oh thank Christ that He has the victory so we don't have to fight these lions, because in myself I would surly lose.
